End of Alopecia with Hair Transplantation
I witnessed my father and uncles suffering from baldness and feared becoming like them. Unfortunately, I started losing my hair when I reached the age of twenty-one due to my family history of Alopecia. The issue of hair loss became a source of obsession for me, and I wanted to try numerous products and treatments to stop hair loss. However, as I grew older, I realized that all the medications were only temporary solutions and not effective treatments. Therefore, I decided to find a suitable solution that would provide me with permanent results, replacing those temporary methods.
After extensive research, I discovered hair transplantation through follicular unit extraction (FUE) and realized its importance in offering a permanent solution to this problem.
I decided to undergo hair transplantation through FUE with Dr. Ahmed Mekkawy, a specialist in plastic surgery and natural hair transplantation, as he is one of the best doctors in this field. When I met him, he asked me several questions and examined the condition of my hair to determine the degree of baldness. He selected the donor area and determined the number of follicles that are needed to be extracted during the transplantation process.
Preparations before Hair Transplantation through FUE:
• Dr. Ahmed Mekkawy asked me about my family medical history to determine the causes of baldness and hair loss and to ensure that I do not have any chronic illnesses that could prevent me from undergoing hair transplantation.
• Afterward, he requested that I undergo some necessary tests before the hair transplantation, such as a blood clotting analysis and a complete blood count.
• He informed me of the necessity to quit smoking before the procedure, as it could affect the results.
• Blood thinner medications, such as aspirin, may increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure and recovery. so he advised me to stop taking them during this time.
What happened after the hair transplant and during the recovery period?
After the hair transplant, my scalp was very soft and sensitive. Therefore, I took some painkillers prescribed by Dr. Ahmed Mekkawy for several days to alleviate the discomfort and swelling. I also followed his advice and instructions during the recovery period, such as:
• Avoiding any vigorous physical activities for several days.
• Completely avoiding smoking during the recovery period to minimize swelling and bruising as much as possible.
• Taking the prescribed antibiotics to prevent any infection.
• Taking prescribed anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medications to reduce scalp inflammation and prevent itching during the recovery period.
• Ensuring the intake of plenty of vitamins and minerals during recovery to make sufficient nutrients reach the transplanted follicles.
In addition to these instructions, there were several other guidelines and tips concerning the method of washing the hair after the transplant and the sleeping position during the recovery period to prevent any harm to the transplanted hair follicles.
When did the results of the hair transplant appear?
The results of the hair transplant started to appear permanently within a period ranging from six months to a year. During this time, temporary hair shedding ceased, and the transplanted hair follicles began to stabilize and grow naturally.
Within six months, the density and noticeable growth of the hair increased. Additionally, all the side effects, including swelling, bruising, and numbness, completely disappeared without leaving any trace.
Within the year, the results stabilized permanently, as shown in the before and after pictures. The hair grew naturally as a natural part of the transplanted area, without the need for any additional transplantation procedures in the future.
I would like to thank Dr. Ahmed Mekkawy and his comprehensive medical team who performed my hair transplant the utmost professionalism. Finally, I am able to get rid of the problem of alopecia forever.
